For those who don't know, Born Free is a classic motorcycle show that is held outside of Santa Ana every year. Founded by Mike Davis and Grant Peterson 9 years ago, Born Free has grown into one of the largest gatherings of vintage bikes in the world. Last year, the Old Skool LX that the Blends and Born Free teams brought us topped our list of best releases of 2016. They have teamed up with Vault again to bring us another collaboration, this time in the very popular OG Sk8 Hi LX silo.
The OG Sk8 Hi LX is one of the most classic silos in the Vans arsenal. For me, it doesnt get better than the OG Style 36 or Old Skool, but this silo has a special place in my heart and is favored by many Waffleheads. For this iteration Born Free and Blends opted for a vibrant blue canvas and premium suede upper, in traditional Sk8 Hi blocking. The same elements that we loved about last year's project are back again on the OG Sk8 Hi. The red, white, and blue jazz stripe has to be one of our most favorite design elements in memory. With the clear checkerboard waffle outsole and triple-branded tongue-tag and footbeds, this collaboration is a very worthy follow-up to one of our favorite Old Skools ever.
