Spring is almost here and that means release season is upon us. Southern California’s Blends is no stranger to collaboration with the upper tier Vault line. Their releases are incredibly sought after and often at the top of many ‘best of’ lists. The brand steps into unfamiliar territory this month, releasing this collab on an all new Vans tech: the ComfyCush outsole.
While the much loved bone jazz stripe is still there, this release is different in a number of ways for Blends. For starters, this time they are dropping two colorways of the Old Skool. They also chose to ditch the motorcycle jacket leather and zipper in favor of a nappy suede outer. For many, this is a welcome departure from previous models. Check out those HQ shots of the uppers and tell us you don’t wanna run your fingers over them. All this butter and no bread.
Blends partners up with Vans Vault once again for a special take on Vans’ COMFYCUSH series. Introducing the brand’s latest innovation, COMFYCUSH, a series featuring lightweight cupsole composition with high-performance foam technology for optimized foot support that doesn’t pull you down. In celebration of this new technology Blends and Vans Vault brought forth the notorious “BONE JAZZ-STRIPE” design in the iconic Old Skool silhouette adorning the shoes with hairy suede uppers with leather details inside and out.
For those unfamiliar with the ComfyCush tech (aka everyone), think of this as an updated Lite model. There is a separate waffle outsole attached to the molded foam midsole. I was able to get hands on (and on feet) with this model this week and I was impressed with the comfort they provided. As long as the shape is there, I’m a supporter. If you were a fan of the Lite, then you will love the ComfyCush.
The Blends x Vans Vault Old Skool COMFYCUSH LX drops this Saturday, 16 February, at all Blends locations and online via Blendsus.com. Check out the two shorts that Blends produced for this release below.
