Vans has again teamed up with premier Taiwanese boutique REMIX. Coming off the success of their much sought after first collaboration, the Taipei team has chosen the Sk8 Hi Zip and Old Skool to make those of us outside of Asia jealous.
The Old Skool arrives in both black and white, with each one featuring suede vamps and heel counters and tonal canvas sidewalls. Just above the lateral jazz stripes on each shoe, we see something we have never seen before: "AGAINST THE WORLD" in glossy tonal text. We really love this detail and wouldn't mind seeing this sort of thing make it's way to other models in the future. All white foxing and dual branded custom woven tongue labels and footbeds finish the pairs off.
The Sk8 Hi Zip also comes in tonal black and white uppers with similar material blocking as the Old Skool. The standout feature of this model is the zipper placement that we have previously only seen on the Vans Japan models. We like this placement somewhat better as it lends to fewer failures that the heel zipper. Just like the Old Skools, the Sk8 Hi's sit atop white foxing and are finished off nicely with the custom woven labels and footbeds.
