For those of us who have been into Vans for a long time, there is an era we refer to as the Dark Ages. The majority of the 1990's were a real struggle for Vans. Some models released during that time were destined to be purposefully forgotten to history. This is probably for the better for most of them. Leave it to Dime to resurrect the dead. The Fairlane is one of those Dark Ages models. We all had them but we don't like talking about it. Dime chose this model to drape in the icy "dream blue" suede upper and embossed synthetic leather jazz stripe. The iced out cupsole is a nice touch that keeps with the theme. The Dime logo adorns the huge, padded tongue and the rest of the shoe has all of the updated tech you would expect from Vans Skate.
The other two models in this collection are both great looking Old Skool Pros in navy and marshmallow. Premium suede vamps and heel caps are laid over the tonal canvas quarters. Both pairs feature a stripeless white foxing and iced waffle soles with Dime logo. They also have a poem by Bryan (written on 2.22.16) all about banana puree printed on the sockliners. Interesting touch.
The Vans Skate x Dime Old Skool and Fairlane Pro "Icy Kicks" Collection release tomorrow, Saturday, September 17th at SILO Store. Check your local Pro Skate retailer for availability.
