Vans JP has a history of collaborations and releases that leave those of us not fortunate enough to reside on the archipelago green with envy. It seems that there is often a level of design and aesthetics between Vans JP and other native Japanese brands that is just not quite reached here in America. As I say this, I realize that many outside of the US also feel the same way about our releases, so it's all relative I suppose. For their July release, Vans JP have teamed up with 24karats for an Old Skool JP that, like many releases before, leaves us wanting.
Opting for the classic black suede blocking on the uppers, this Old Skool JP's quarters are printed in a vaporwave camouflage pattern that can only be described as aesthetic af. The camo pattern is printed off-center in shades of black with red and blue hues that give the look and feel that many have come to love. The Old Skool JP also features 24karat typography printed on the foxing, something that this author can't get enough of. Each will come boxed in special co-branded packaging. It's simple yet this is easily one of my favorite releases of the year.
