It seems like the trend is now Vans Classics teaming up with one major brand per year and releasing a huge collaboration collection. First we had Star Wars, which were a huge hit, and then Disney came and we saw sales like we never have before. And now, there's a new challenger approaching...
Keeping with the classic style of the previous collaborations, the Nintendo partnership will be comprised of several styles of Sk8 Hi's, Old Skools, Authentics. and Slip Ons. All of the iconic characters from Nintendo's heavy hitters will make an appearance in one way or another in the collection. Even the dog from Duck Hunt gets his mug on an Authentic. The collection will be packaged in special Nintendo boxes. There is really something for everyone here and fans of both brands should be happy with the offerings.
The Nintendo x Vans collection will be available June 3rd at Vans retailers around the world as well as online. Additional information on apparel and wave 2 will be available as we get it.
Some time ago, we brought you the initial images of one of the things Vans had planned for their big 50th anniversary. Back then, we didn't have any release information to report. We are extremely happy to say that the time has come.
The first wave of the 50th Anniversary Pro Classics will consist of the red/white Duke Kahanamoku Authentic Pro '66, the navy blue Authentic Pro '74, the red/blue Era Pro '76 (the first ever "Off the Wall" shoe), Tony Alva's blue Mid Skool Pro '79, and Spicoli's classic checkerboard Slip On Pro '82. The special 50th anniversary black/gold Sk8 Hi Pro and Authentic Pro is thrown in for good measure. All of the 50th Anniversary Pro Classics come with updated materials and the new UltraCush HD Pro insoles with special 50th Anniversary branding.
The initial offering from the Vans 50th Anniversary Pro Classics Collection will be available tomorrow March 16th, from retailers like The Vans DQM General in NYC. This is a global release and while they will be widely available from Vans retail stores and dealers, not all stores will have them in stock. Check your local retailer for availability.
American clothier J. Crew continues it's ongoing collaboration with Vans with a versatile suede Slip On. The pair boasts premium navy suede in an embossed classic checkerboard patterned vamp. The shoe sits on a stripeless foxed mid that is in a vintage off white color.
The J. Crew x Vans Slip On Embossed Suede Checkerboard is available for preorder now at J. Crew stores as well as online. They are expected to ship March 1. Retail is $70.
Opening Ceremony dropped another collaboration on us today, this time with a Classics Slip On model. Available in three colors, camel, black, and grey, each pair is fitted with a fuzzy woolen upper that appears light and airy. Normal canvas liners and stripless foxing round out the collection.
The Opening Ceremony x Vans Slip On "Wool" Pack is available now from Opening Ceremony and are priced at $80 each. And just a heads up, their last collaboration sold out in a couple hours, so if you are on the fence with these, you might want to make a decision sooner than later.
Vans has started a tradition of honoring the Chinese New Year with models that pay an homage to that year's corresponding zodiac animal. 2016 is the Year of the Monkey, and for that, Vans chose the Sk8 Hi and Half Cab. For the color blocking, Vans chose to take design elements from 1980's Golden Monkey Stamp which popularized stamp collecting in Asia.
The Half Cab is the stand out model from this collection, with a patchwork of colored suede in navy and royal blues, golden yellow, red, and green on a white leather background. The Sk8 Hi has a very nappy tonal red suede upper and smooth leather jazz stripe.
The Vans Classics Year of the Monkey Sk8 Hi and Half Cab Collection are available now from Vans.com and retail for $100 and $90 respectively. Check your local Vans shop for availability.
Vans Classics has released a trio of leather Era 59's with a vintage vibe. One particular colorway (and, to be honest, the reason for this article) has the perfect Stan Smith blocking. The black and red color palette of the other pairs are nice, but the white and green are perfect for spring. All three feature double stitching, stripeless foxing, and suede highlights.
The Vans Classics Vintage Sport Era 59 is available now from Vans.com. Check your local Vans shop for in store availability.
After teasing us from Japan for a few months, Vans has finally released their Slide-On sandal in the US. Arriving in 4 colorways: tonal red, black, blue, and traditional check pattern.
Available now from Vans.com. Retail price $30.
It might be winter, but it's 90º somewhere, and Vans is gearing up for warmer weather. They have release a new Late Night Pack with a very spring feel. The pack consists of various Authentics and Slip Ons with printed photos of desserts and food. Vans has the whole food pyramid covered with macaroons, pizza, french fries, and donuts. A couple standouts from this pack are the Sk8 Hi and Slip On with stylized cheeseburger graphics and classic checkerboard pattern. The graphics remind us of the ultra limited Cobra Snake x Colette Era from a few years back.
The Vans Classics Late Night Pack is available now from Vans.com in sizes for everyone in your family. Check your local shop for in store availability.
