Japanese Vans Vault designer Taka Hayashi is introducing a couple more new silhouettes to the world. Coming off the announcement of the TH Buffalo Trail LX, Taka and Vault are also dropping the TH Slip and Sk8 Nomad LX on us.
The TH Sk8 Nomad LX arrives in two colorways: black with contrasting brown vamp and tongue panels and brown with contrasting red vamp and tongue panels. The dominating black and brown uppers are constructed of a premium leather with perforated design on the one piece side panels. Partial Japanese rising sun flag design can be seen on the outsole.
For the low top option, the TH Slip Nomad LX, they color options are the same. The contrasting red and brown leather paneling is this time on the heels while the perforated pattern in the upper is on the vamp and sidewalls. All pairs have a white, stripeless midsole and leather flag tags.
The Taka Hayashi TH Slip Nomad and Sk8 Nomad LX will be available this Saturday, May 21st, from The General New York and other Vans Vault stockists around the globe.
Vans brought us the Serio running silhouette in the 1980's and it fizzled out in the early 90's as the brand began shifting production elsewhere. It has been a staple for Vans JP for a few years now, as they seem to always get the models back before we do in the States. Vans is bringing back the runner style, but this time they have renowned designer Taka Hayashi a shot at the silhouette. What came out of the lab is the TH Buffalo Trail LX, a brand new model from Vans Vault and Taka.
Designer Taka Hayashi pays homage to Vans’ design history by reimagining the retro runner, the Serio, under premium label, Vault by Vans. Inspired by the original silhouette introduced in the early ‘80s, Taka Hayashi’s unique vision blends the vintage Vans runner with a buffalo boot form to create the TH Buffalo Boot LX.
The latest Vault by Vans model has the constructed outsole of a work boot translated through a stacked leather wedge, EVA Midsole and a Vibram® ripple sole bottom plate. The result provides a premium, athletic-inspired style that’s reminiscent of Vans’ decades long design history. Available in black, brown and taupe, the TH Buffalo Trail LX features upgraded materials like leather, nubuck and suede both outside and inside the shoe.
The Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault TH Buffalo Trail LX will arrive this month at Vans Vault stockists across the globe. We expect to see more from this model very soon and possibly even shop collaborations. Stay tuned!
The other day, we brought you news of Vans Classics' collaboration with Pendleton Woolen Mills. Today, we get finally present the long awaited Taka Hayashi x Pendleton round two collection. The first time Taka partnered with Pendleton, we got a Sk8 Hi LX and Slip on LX that are widely revered as one of the best Vans ever made. Taka chose the Sk8 Hi Huarache LX for this go round, which has a bit of a different silhouette and color blocking than the Sk8 Hi. The Slip On LX returns with familiar blocking, albeit different coloring options. The Pendleton wool panels for both models are taken from different design elements of the Taka-designed camp blanket, which is also available in this collection. The camp blanket is a special piece, dual branded with woven Pendleton Woolen Mills and suede Taka Hayashi Vault labels. It comes complete with leather carrying strap. A custom designed drawer box and dust bag which mimics the blanket design really finishes off this collection. This is the type of design we have loved about Taka for years now and we are really happy to see him collaborating with Pendleton again.
The Pendleton x Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault Collection will release this Saturday, November 28th, at Sole Classics as well as other Vault retailers around the globe. The Slip On LX will retail for $120, while the Sk8 Hi Huarache and camp blanket will cost $150 and $300, respectively.

Last seen in spring 2014, the Taka Hayashi Sk8-Mid LX resurfaces in two color-ups: "Khaki" and "New Navy ," featuring the intricately stitched Cross Pattern on the medial and lateral sides of each shoe. This re-imagining of the Vans Sk8-Mid is further detailed with premier suede materials, leather Sidestripe overlays, rawhide lacing and raised toe box foxing.
The two new colorways of the Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault Sk8-Mid LX are available now at select Vans Vault retailers.
Inspired by the build of the Vans Prison Issue, the TH Priz Hi LX is an elevated extension of the beloved low-top. Created by Taka five years ago, the split-paneled TH Priz Hi LX returns after a long hiatus in a refined off-white canvas and brown leather form complete with perforated heel panels, embroidered ankle straps and tonal waxed laces.
The Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault Priz Hi LX is available now at Sole Classics.
