Alyx Studio and Vault by Vans partner up for a collection that leans heavy of classic Vans styling with some interesting details.
Vans releases a new collection of original silos that are the closest approximation to Made in the USA in decades.
Vault partners with Steven Alan for their second collaboration this season.
Vault by Vans and Steven Alan tap the Nihon Menpu mill for a specialty twill checkerboard fabric for a set of OG silos.
New for spring, DQM partners with Vans Vault for a new collection of tonal black and white Sk8 Hi and Style 36 LX.
DQM will be releasing its Spring 16 footwear collection in collaboration with Vans this Friday, February 26th. The collection inlcudes an OG SK8-Hi LX and an OG Style 36 LX, both produced in all black and all white premium leather color ways. Made exclusively for DQM, the shoes are inspired by a study in minimalism, and in contrasts and transitions: two parts of one, light and dark, black and white, and the gray areas.
The shoes combine a feeling of minimalism, with refined, pared-back styling and a completely monotone palette, with a feeling of luxury, fabricated in soft, super premium full-grain leather and featuring quilted leather tongues and gold foil printing on cork insoles. They have a deconstructed look with minimal branding, simple punched eyelets and high-density printed side-stripes. The shoes feature ‘The General: DQM for Vans’ branding on the insoles and ‘DQM’ logos at the heel tabs.
Produced in a limited edition, “The Halves” collection will be available in men’s and women’s sizes exclusively at The Vans DQM General in SoHo, New York on Friday, February 26th.
Until recently, not many of us knew Steven Alan was a Vans Vault retailer and now they have their very collaboration with the LX brand. Steven Alan designers teamed up with Vault to produce a Sk8 Hi and Style 36 LX OG with a material we don't see in use too much these days: corduroy. Sidewalls of both models are draped in an ultra-dark blue corduroy while the rest is blocked in black suede. The Sk8 Hi opts for the tonal black midsole while the 36 keeps it white and clean. Dual branding on the sock liners and a custom box finish off the pair.
The Steven Alan x Vans Vault Style 36 and Sk8 Hi LX OG "Corduroy" is available in very limited sizes from StevenAlan.com now but many of them are already gone.
After nearly a year of speculation and leaks of various samples, Vans has released final information and photos for the Fall 2015 WTAPS collection. We were initially going to publish this tomorrow morning, but then we realized that some shops might be releasing at midnight. The full collection will consist of 8 pairs. Three Era OG LX's, two Sk8 Hi OG LX's, and three Style 36 OG LX's. Let's break them down a bit.
The Eras have an all white canvas upper with solid colored mid and outsole. The theme with these models is a nod to Japanese primary school uniforms in which the color of a shoe's soles directly corresponded to the grade of the wearer. You get your choice of red, blue, or green outsoles to pick from. The WTAPS flag tag and dual branded insoles are also nice touches.
We have gone over the Style 36's in some detail previously, and there is not much else to report on these. We have three colorways to choose from: navy, black, and wine. All are done up in premium suede with full grain tumbled leather jazz stripes. All have tonal midsole and outsoles. Military style WTAPS woven labels adorn the tongues.
The two colorways of Sk8 Hi OG's have also been reported on at some length. From the looks of it, the black pair seems to have some hints of navy in the dye, as can be seen in closeups. The croc print really sets these apart and stand out mostly on the gray colorway. All black midsoles finish these off.
The WTAPS x Vans Vault Collection will release tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8th at Vault accounts worldwide. Being that this is a Vault release, not all accounts will release on the same day and you would do well to check our Vault Locator tab and ask your local which day they will put their stock on the floor. Also, even though there are 8 pairs in this collection, these are WTAPS so we don't expect them to sit for very long. If you are on the fence, it may behoove you to just purchase them for retail rather than pay resale prices later.

As the Vault releases for August begin to roll out to retail shops, we are getting some news on a pair of Style 36 LX that will be included in that wave. This pair boasts a grey suede upper with black and white striated canvas sidewall. Really setting this pair off from others we have seen before, is the dark gum sole.
The Vans Vault OG Style 36 LX Gum Sole will be available at Hot Rod LA online and in store on Saturday, July 25th. Keep an eye out for other Vault retailers to receive these in the coming weeks.
Just in time for July, Vans California releases the newest in Style 36. Arriving in two colorways. First up, the predominantly white canvas pair is offset by a classic navy Jazz Stripe and tonal pig skin suede toe cap. The other pair comes dressed in burgundy canvas with tonal pig skin toe cap and white Jazz stripe. Both are treated with Scotchguard® for stain and water resistance. An interesting detail on both pairs is the nylon blue and white tabs on the heels.
Both pairs of the Vans Vansguard Style 36 CA are available now from Vans DQM The General. Look out for these to arrive at other California stockists soon.
Vans Japan has a long history of producing exclusive colorways, some sometimes even exclusive models, of pairs that those of us outside of the archipelago won't have much chance of getting our hands on. Usually, only those lucky enough to have friend or family in Japan willing to go through the extra effort of proxying will be able to add them to their collection. In keeping with the trend of 2015, Vans Japan has created a pair that combines two of the things we love most: checkerboard print and the Style 36 OG.
Two pairs were created which cater to very different tastes. For those who are fans of louder sneakers, one Style 36 OG comes with a black suede and check printed canvas upper and midsole with white leather Jazz Stripe. The other pair is a bit more toned down, with an all black suede upper and white Jazz stripe, making use of the checkerboard pattern only on the mid.
The Vans JP V36OG Style 36 "Tokyo" is available now at Vans Japan retailers like BILLY's, so fire up Google Translate and give it a go.
New for June, Vault releases two new OG Style 36 LX models. Vans opted for very classic and simple colorways with solid blocking for both. Each pair is styled with premium leather uppers and stripeless, white mids.
The Vans Vault OG Style 36 LX Premium Leather is available now from Hot Rod LA. Expect these to arrive at all Vault accounts in the coming weeks.
With so many rumors surrounding the WTAPS releases this year, it's nice to finally get some clearer images of the models. We brought you a photo of the wine colored OG Style 36 a few months back and now we get even more.
There does not appear to be any changes from the previous sample. We really hope these get an official release date soon because we are in love.
What do you think of the WTAPS x Vans Vault OG Style 36 LX? Is the tonal misdole a turn off for you? Let us know.
Just a few days ago, we were able to show you the tonal all-black OG Style 36 LX that WTAPS has been cooking in the Vault lab. Today, we get a sneak peek at yet another tonal Style 36 LX, this time in red wine colorway.
Judging solely from this photo, the upper looks extremely plush, almost velvety. This sneaker just shot to the top of our must-have list.
No information is currently available on this model, but we expect the pack to release this year form WTAPS and Vans Vault. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
A few weeks back, we talked about rumors coming from sources about upcoming WTAPS collaborations. Today, we got our first look at what could be the next WTAPS release.
Seems like 2015 truly is the year of the Style 36 with everyone from Gosha Rubchinskiy to Sole Classics using the silhouette. This time, it gets draped in all black save for the white text on the woven WTAPS labels.
Stay tuned as more details and photos become available.
Midwestern supplier Sole Classics wastes no time. Last month, they released their highly anticipated second collaboration with Vans Vault, the A8SC Sk8 Hi Zip LX. Just days ago, they teased us with a promise of more in the coming days. Today, we get to see what they were talking about.
The official press release says it best:
"The pioneer is the one who dreams of the unseen, and goes places that no average person would dare to go. The Sole Classics x Vans Vault Style 36 LX "SCFlyer" represents a mentality that has paved the way for the progression of humanity; that is, the desire to make the impossible, possible. The Style 36 is made up of an off-white cracked leather to nod at the cloth that cloaked the original frame of the first flyer. The reflective gold side stripe pays homage to the innovation of flight. And when you look at the shoe from the side, its appearance resembles a flight path over the earth. An idea that developed over 100 years ago in Dayton, OH, designed for you, the pioneer."
The collaboration of the white cracked leather uppers, golden 3M reflective Jazz Stripe, golden lace tips, and forest green extra laces truly makes this a premium release.
The Sole Classics x Vans Vault OG Style 36 LX "SC Flyer" is available in very limited quantities at 11:00 AM EST this Saturday, March 14th, exclusively at Sole Classics in Columbus and online at www.soleclassics.com.
Young Russian fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy is quickly becoming a common name on spoken in major fashion houses and haute boutiques around the globe. When he collaborated with Vault last summer to create the Old Skool LX, it left many of us clamoring for a pair.
Gosha took to Instagram last year to show us a taste of the Style 36 LX he has planned for this season. The photo, however, was quickly deleted. He then outfitted his models with pairs during the preview of his 2015 line. It also appears that he will be dropping a printed two-tone Slip-On LX alongside the Style 36.
With the fashion season fast approaching, we expect to see official photos and release dates on these pairs soon. Stick with us for more information as it becomes available.
