Scye Basics x Vans Slip On JP

Last year, we were introduced to high-end Japanese fashion brand Scye when they partnered with BEAMS and Vans Japan on the Style 72 JP. Designers Hisayo Hidaka and Hideaki Miyahara have again joined forces with Vans JP on a subtle Slip Ons for the summer season.

Scye chose the Slip On JP, a model that has gained a lot of popularity this year, with solid color blocked uppers in navy and cream. The brand prides themselves in originality, and they proved that with this collaboration by not just choosing a canvas upper, but instead going with oni konoko, or moss stitch in english. The signature piece from the Scye Basics summer collection is the polo which uses the same material as the Slip On JP.

The material was knitted on vintage machines in Japan which allows for very fine adjustments to the weave to maintain softness, loop volume, and breathability. One of the standout features of the material is the rough outer texture of the knit which sets it apart from your normal cotton uppers. A white Scye Basics branded stripe on the heel counter is a subtle touch and does a little break up the tonal upper. The Scye rhino logo adorns the top of the vamp and a white, stripeless midsole finishes them off.

The Scye Basics x Vans Slip On JP will be available exclusively from California Dept in Japan on Saturday, July 9th. There are no plans for a release outside of Japan, so if you are interested, you will need to enlist the help of a proxy service.
