American artist Robert Williams has teamed up with Vans Vault for another round of very inspired footwear. Williams is known for his work with Ed roth in the 60's and 70's and his psychedelic-style of artwork and comics that fueled his Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine. Fans of his unique style won't be let down with his latest effort with Vault on the Slip On 98 Reissue, Authentic 44 Reissue, and the Sk8 Hi 38 Decon LX.
For the Slip On 98 Reissue LX, we get a bit of a subtle and abstract design on the canvas vamp and heel counter while the ankle collar is black leather. The see-thru soles of this pair really stand out with Kachina Club and burger designs.
The Authentic 44 Reissue LX canvas upper leans more towards Williams' pop-art style with elements taken from the very abstract scene on the sole. The upper has a very flash art type feel but when you look at the outsole, you can see the bigger (and totally different) picture.
A model we don't see too much of, especially in the Vault category, is the Sk8 Hi Decon 38. Expect less padding on the uppers and thinner materials but the pair should maintain the same LX quality we have come to expect. The all canvas upper, like the Slip On 98, has a more subtle and look with a black to purple/lavender gradient from the midsole up the ankle collar. Again, Williams' amazing psychedelic style of artwork can be seen on the see-thru soles.
All three feature white midsoles with Williams' signature near the heel. The pairs come packaged in special edition Robert William x Vault boxes and each will also have a different dustbag design, mirroring the graphic on the outsole.
The Robert Williams x Vans Vault Collection is available now from BILLY'S in Japan. Expect a worldwide release at your local Vault stockists on July 23rd.
