Since 2005, Japan's JACKSON MATISSE has taken inspiration and design notes from Jackson Pollock and Henry Matisse and bashed them together with US surf and skate culture to create a style that is all their own. Their latest collaboration with Vans Japan is no different.
Sat upon a midsole with printed red, white, and blue stars and stripes, JM chose a model we don't see too often: the Vans Penny Loafer. And then they dressed in a buttery navy suede and finished with the a contrasting classic red Off the Wall logo heel tab. But it doesn't end there
JM could've packaged these in a basic flip-top box, but they took it one step further and brought back the red fire engine Vans box. This is one of our favorite packagings ever and we are overjoyed to see it resurrected.
The collection also contains three different white tees with graphics in navy, blue, and black all designed by the team at JM.
The JACKSON MATISSE x Vans Japan Penny Loafer Collection releases exclusively at Ron Herman Japan on Saturday, April 4th, 2015. The sneakers retail for ¥ 11,000 ($98US) and the shirts ¥ 83,000 ($69US).
