The first collection from Vault and ALYX created quite a stir, especially the OG Style 36 LX (Vans, why cant we get a black and white OG Style 36 in the base Originals line??), and sold out almost immediately from all stockists. This next round of the collaboration digs deep into the archives for some 20 year old styles of skate silos to please everyone who loves a toe bumper and a vintage woven tongue tag.
This summer, Vault by Vans collaborates with premium fashion label, ALYX, to create a harmonious blend of high and low style with an 11-piece footwear collection. Designed by ALYX creative director Matthew Williams, the Vault by Vans x ALYX collection features deluxe versions of iconic Vans silhouettes that haven’t been released in over two decades. William’s inspiring California roots connect the ALYX brand with Vans’ skate heritage, taking his youth culture inspired designs and adding elements of luxury for this special collaboration.
"For this Vans release, we really focused on the history of Vans and referenced past silhouettes that have since been retired. It was an incredible experience to go through the past archives and reintroduce these styles with our own ALYX details,” Williams said.
ALYX is Williams’ first solo project after exploring a multitude of creative pursuits, including art direction, clothing design, video direction and photography. Although Williams takes pride in helping craft visual identities within the fashion and entertainment industries, ALYX is a passion project that serves as an extension of his own personal interests and influences. Williams lives in New York City but has deep history in Venice Beach and has since embraced strong ties to skate culture and the Southern California lifestyle.
The second wave of the Vault by Vans x ALYX collection will be available this Saturday, July 29, from select Vault retailers and will range from $120 to $195 USD.
