Vault by Vans x DQM Mesh Old Skool LX

Vans and DQM collaborate again for a summer staple taking the form of a Mesh Old Skool LX in four flavors: black, white, navy, and burgundy. Keeping the color palette muted, the uppers feature a breathable mesh reminiscent of the Streetmachine Authentics produced for the now defunct Syndicate line. Though canvas, suede, and rich leathers are hallmark materials for Vans silos, the incorporation of a mesh is a nice touch when the weather is heating up and you want to keep the stank in your shoes to a minimum. While they're not built for rigorous activity or sports, these will probably fare better in the heat than a full leather or suede equivalent. If you have been looking for something lightweight and breathable this season, this may be the Morris Day and the Time you've been looking for to complete your Purple Rain.

Made exclusively for The General store in New York City, the new Mesh Old Skool LX is inspired by mid-century architectural forms and modern sports garment fabrications, traditional sports uniform palettes and mid-century graphics. The shoe has a modern, minimal feel in solid colors paired with true white outsoles. The pared back styling includes a flat, embroidered side stripe, matching color sock liner and cotton webbing heel pull. The shoes come with a tracer cord lace, which combined with the nylon mesh material gives the shoes a light-weight and subtly technical feel reminiscent of classic summer sports.

The shoes are available now and sold exclusively at The General in New York. Photos by Jonathan Mehring in New York City.
